We said we weren't going to buy any new clothes for Peanut because we knew we'd get some hand-me-downs from some of our friends. After we got the first batch of clothes from Brian and Kitty, we put them in the top drawer of a dresser upstairs. We didn't think much of it. It was simply a place to put those tiny clothes. However, a recent visit to the drawer made me realize that Peanut's only a 5-month-old fetus and he's already got a full drawer of clothes. The top drawer in the dresser upstairs is now "Peanut's drawer", and these are Peanut's clothes.

Aunt Vi is my little cousin Vivian. I still feel weird when I playfully call her "Aunt Vi" 'cause she's been the baby in the family for as long as I can remember! The first time I met Vivian was in the summer of 1984, the summer before junior high. She couldn't have been more than 2 or 3 months old then. I remember she was sleeping in her bed for a looooong time, so I touched her belly and watched her squirm a little. I just wanted to make sure she was real. She wasn't awfully interesting then 'cause all she did was sleep (well... not much has changed since).
25 years later, the disinterested preteen is about to become a mother herself, and the little squirmy worm is now a trilingual newly-wed/housewife who lives in Hong Kong. While she claims that she doesn't want any children of her own, Vivian's very excited about Peanut and has bought him a few brand new sleepers and T-shirts from Marks and Spencer.

The Tiny Tees

(I think Peanut's daddy was very happy with these T-shirts 'cause they feature two of his favorite things: the sea and dogs. Good job, Vi.)
I also bought a few things on my way to the pregger yoga class last week. These little sleepers and bibs were simply too cute to resist.... and they were cheap too.
The Sports Series & Bibs

Interestingly, when I showed some of these sleepers to a friend, he told me that sleepers designed for 0 to 3 month-old babies that are made in Asia tend to be too small for Caucasian-Asian mixed babies. His son Willy, an American-Taiwanese mixed baby, simply could not fit into any of the "made in Asia" sleepers after he was born. I'm not too concerned about this because (a) Marks and Spencers is a British company, and (b) we'll end up giving these away to the next baby anyway (I wanna keep the bibs though).
p.s. Aunt Lisa just told us that she'd sent two boxes of Jordy's stuff from Vancouver. We might soon need to clean out another drawer for Peanut's stuff.

Kate,
I love reading your blog because I feel like I am enjoying your pregnancy right along with you. I love the little clothes, and can't wait to see Peanut wearing them.
Thanks Mom.
I'm having a lot of fun being pregnant and blogging about it too. :)
