Big and Healthy
As parents, we seem to have this instinctual desire/need for our babies to be big and strong. Though I suspect all parents feel this way, perhaps parents of baby boys have stronger feelings about it?
It seems that Kai has been going through a super growth spurt since the last checkup in February. Bill and I have both commented at one point or another when we woke up in the morning how Kai seemed to have grown another inch during the night. His feet got pudgier and much bigger (must be getting ready to crawl and walk), and he has become much more powerful (=more difficult to manipulate... I mean, handle). Like his erupting bottom teeth, the rest of his body is undergoing transformation by the unstoppable force of nature.
At birth, he weighed 4.2kgs (or 9lbs & 4.15oz). In February, when he was 5 months old, his weight already doubled his birth weight at 8.8kgs (or19lbs & 6.41oz) . Currently at 7 months, he weighs 10.5kgs (or 23lbs and 2.37oz). In addition, Kai has grown 21 centimeters since he was born (from 51.5 cms to 72.5 cms. That's from 1.69 feet to 2.38 feet). That averages out to growing 3 centimeters a month. If he continues to grow at this rate (which is impossible but fun to think about), he will be 87 cms (2.85 ft) on his first birthday, 123 cms (4.04 ft) when he's 2, and 195 cms (6.4 feet) when he's 4.
Thank goodness for growth spurts, as opposed to linear growth.
