Kai-nese

Kai has a few favorite sounds that he's been working on. One is
"nnna", which I think means "nommy nom" (food). He'd only go "Nnna!
Nnna!" when he sees his food or when he's eating.

When he wants to nurse, he changes "nnna" to "nja". I love how he'd be
rooting while saying "nja", and as soon as he latches on, he goes,
"Mmm~". As in "Mmm~ This is good stuff." So cute!!

And he's got his own word for "dog" now! For the past few days,
whenever he saw Grandma's dog Holly, he squealed! He'd go "Ah! Ah!
Ah!" while going after her. I noticed that I haven't been doing a good
job scaffolding: I've been inconsistent with the words I use while
helping him identify a dog (sometimes I say, "Holly" but other times I
say, "Doggie"), so I switched to only using "doggie" a couple of days
ago. Today while I was helping Kai walk over to Tony and Luanne's
Golden Retriever Brandon, I said, "Doggie." And Kai repeated, "Duh!
Duh!" I said, "Yes! Doggie." Kai went, "Duh! Gu! Duh! Duh!" and he
threw himself on top of Brandon and got a mouthful of fur.

AND I've got to keep using Chinese with him. I know he recognizes
Chinese because when I do talk to him in Chinese, he smiles and seems
to be intrigued. I just have to remember to use both languages when I
name objects (i.e., "doggie" and "gou gou"). Note to self: Must.
