Our Amazing Toddler

Okay, I'm sure the constant amazement we experience might very well be one of those first-time-parent things, but I gotta tell ya, we've got quite a little guy here. He's growing up so fast and doing so many new things every day, I feel like I'm not catching up fast enough!! At 14 months, this is what he's doing regularly. For convenience sake (okay... I'm lazy), I used the milestone chart: 13 to 18 months from Baby Center as a guide and picked out the things that Kai's doing now. As you will see, some of these things (according to Baby Center) are milestones for the next few months to come.

(for 14-month-olds)
Eats with fingers
• Empties containers of contents
Imitates others
Toddles well
• Initiates games
• Responds to instructions (e.g., "give me a kiss")
Pushes and pulls toys while walking

(for 15-month-olds)
• Plays with ball
• Uses three words regularly (Kai's words: "Daddy", "Hi", "Bye", "Doggie", "Kitty)
Walks backward

(for 16-month-olds)
"Helps" around the house
• Turns the pages of a book
• Has temper tantrums when frustrated
• Discovers the joy of climbing
• Learns the correct way to use common objects (e.g., Daddy's iPhone)
• Switches from two naps to one

(for 17-months-olds)
• Enjoys pretend games (Kai would pretend to pick up something and hand it to me)
• Likes riding toys
Feeds doll (Mmm... Kai doesn't have dolls, but he feeds his parents and his babysitter)
Speaks more clearly
Throws a ball underhand
• Dances to music (Are you kidding? He started dancing to music before his first birthday)
Kicks ball forward

(for 18-month-olds)
• Will "read" board books on his own
Brushes teeth with help

Now is he an amazing toddler or what?!

An amazing toddler! Definitely an amazing toddler!
This was fun to read and it even reminded me that Maggie IS ready for just one nap a day! You forget these things!
