"Sister."
Then I told Bill that perhaps we should give her a name so Kai won't think "Sister" is her name.
"What sister called, Mommy?"
Well... That just proved Mommy (once again) underestimated how much this little guy understands about what goes on around him.
"I don't know. What do you think we should call her?"
"A bee!"
"B?" Mommy isn't very bright sometimes.
"A bee! Bzzzz..."
"Oh! Why a bee?"
"No, a butterfly!"
"Well, you have to choose one, Kai. A bee or a butterfly?"
"A butterfly!"
Right before bedtime, I was sitting in the armchair and he was sitting in his bed. Suddenly a tiny hand reached out and started petting my belly. The baby was kicking back.
"What are you doing, Kai?"
"Kaikai petting Mommy belly."
"Why are you petting Mommy's belly?"
"Kaikai petting belly... Baby sister be quiet."
"You want your baby sister to be quiet? Is she noisy?"
"No....... Just... be quiet."
"Would you like to talk to your baby sister?" I lifted up my shirt.
Kai put a stuffed piggy on my belly, "Look! It's pigwet!" he petted my belly again, "Kaikai here. Petting Mommy belly. Baby sister be quiet now."
