Logical Thinking at Two Years Old

Kai and I were walking in a parking lot. His one hand was holding mine and the other holding his favorite toy car. Bill caught up to us and asked, "Kai, you wanna hold Daddy's hand, too?"
"No," the 2-year-old said assertively.
Bill pretended to sob, "You don't wanna hold Daddy's hand?"
Kai raised the hand with the toy car in it, "Because Kaikai holding McQueen."

At Fred Meyers,
"Kaikai want new Lightning McQueen car."
"You HAVE a new Lightning McQueen car from Grandma and Grandpa for Christmas, remember?"
The toddler thought for a second, put out both hands with palms facing up.
"What does this mean?" I asked.
The little bugger reasoned, "Kaikai no have new Lightning McQueen car NOW, Mommy."

At the check-out counter, I showed Kai a Lion King DVD and asked what was on the cover. After pointing out the lion and the pig, Kai said, "Mommy open it."
Honestly I wasn't really paying much attention when I answered, so I didn't choose words I knew he'd for sure understand, "We can't open it 'cause it doesn't belong to us."
"Well...," he said (Now that caught my attention. How many 2-year-olds begin a sentence with "Well..."), "Mommy pay, then open it."
