Pre-Typhoon & Pre-Baby

We've got beautiful skies in the last few days because of an approaching typhoon. I don't know about you, but I love stormy weather... all that energy gathering in the atmosphere waiting to be unleashed.

(See, Darrell? Remember I told you that I was thinking about you the whole time I was out taking pictures? In my neighborhood, I can only get bits and pieces of the sky between stupid buildings.)

Something else has also occupied my mind in the last few weeks: must. get. the. house. ready. for. the. baby. The urge is so powerful that my mind is simply not capable of caring about anything else. It's all I think about. Where should his bed go? What kind of mobile should we hang over the bed? Should we hang a mobile over his bed? Where can I sit during those many many midnight feedings? What should I put around the changing table so it is easily accessible? What kind of books should we read to him? What should we put on the walls?

Like the pre-typhoon atmospheric energy, my urge to nest also had to be unleashed. Luckily, there are still many other interesting things to do in life, so I can't stay home all day and turn the place into a full-on nursery splashed with fuzzy stuffed animals and wooden alphabet blocks here and there. I did, however, make a trip to the nearest everything store (equivalent to a dollar store in North America) and get myself a box of coloring pens and other gadgets. I started making my own nursery art.

I had no idea what I was going to put on paper when I first started. Then I realized I was drawing all the things that make me happy.
I decided to call this one "All the Good Things in Life".

Surprisingly, I forgot to put a cat in the picture... but there's a doggy paw and a bone. Hmm.... maybe I am a closet dog lover.

Every kid needs an alphabet chart.
Peanut has his own personal alphabet chart that includes the cities his parents have been to and the ones they want to visit (maybe Peanut can go with them).

(I was going to use Vancouver for V, but then I thought I should include more European cities... just to balance things out a bit.)

MUST. DO. MORE (giggling uncontrollably)!!! It was so much fun!

Wow! I LOVE the art work! So sweet, so personal, and so adorable! Rae, that is exactly what I thought, Etsy! If you wanted to, Kate, you have a very crafty hand at nursery art. I'm so jealous!

I also really enjoyed the correlation between the coming storm and the, well, the coming storm! You are so witty and insightful.

Awesome post! I'll be expecting a hand-made alphabet chart with my next babe! Just 'cause. ;-)

Well, thank you all so very much, girls! I read your comments before bed last night and, 8 hours later, I'm still blushing.

I'd LOVE to draw something for you girls (it doesn't have to be an alphabet chart, and Shellee, we don't have to wait until you're pregnant again)! All you have to do is to help me make it personal for you, and we're good.

You girls are so sweet! Thank you again!
