A Glimpse of the Future

Scene 1

Daddy took you into the bedroom to change the diaper. While I was catching up on blog reading, I could hear indistinguishable chattering and chuckling coming intermittently from the bedroom. Then daddy ran into the living room, eyes wide open and he could hardly hide the excitement in his voice.

"Babe!" he almost shouted.
"We just both tooted at the same time!"

Scene 2

You've had a rough night. You didn't get a good nap in the afternoon, and you've been crying because of the air bubbles in your tummy. Daddy and I have been taking turns trying to comfort you, but all the walking around and patting on your back didn't seem to be helping at all. It's almost 11 o'clock and we've been doing this on and off since 8. Exhausted, I put you in daddy's arms, sat down on the couch and closed my eyes.

"Kaikai, " I heard daddy talking to you.

"You know, you just have to open up that throat and let the air bubbles out. See? Like this." Daddy let out a big burp.

I opened my eyes and acknowledged what he had done. It was quite an impressive burp.
Unfortunately, you weren't in the mood for your father's demonstration and continued crying.

" Or...." I could hear the mischievousness in daddy's voice. I knew I had to keep my eyes open for what was coming up.

"You could push them out from both ends. See? Watch."

Yep, he did it. And he wouldn't leave me alone until I agreed how impressive it was.

It was so impressive, in fact, you stopped crying and was looking at daddy with this stunned look on your red little tear-streaked face. It was really cute. I chuckled and closed my eyes again.

What daddy said to you next was a real eye-opener. It was something that hadn't occurred to me until tonight, "We're totally gonna gross mommy out with all the burps and farts, aren't we, my little boy?!"

It was a bit disturbing how excited your daddy sounded and that you chuckled right after he finished saying it.
