An Inefficient Housewife

I love taking care of Kai. I feel privileged and grateful to be able to be here in the early stages of his life, witnessing all the "first"s. However, as a housewife (aka stay-at-home-mom), I'm not very efficient. I'm lucky if I could get one load of laundry and some dishes done. The rest of the time I'm taking care of Kai, be it breastfeeding, diaper changing, out walking, playing, singing, soothing, napping, or just plain cuddling/hanging out. Truth be told, I've only made dinner maybe 2 handful of times since Kai was born. Good thing we live in a city like Taipei, where prepared food is cheap and easy to get. I'm also lucky that I have a husband who doesn't expect to come home to a warm homemade meal every night.

Recently it's been worse. I haven't been able to get on the computer because Kai's been getting gas pangs. I tried blogging, but there were 4 drafts as of today (the one on December 3rd is actually an incomplete post, but I figured I might as well just publish it). Aside from the above list of things I usually do with him during the day, now I burp him every five minutes while breastfeeding and for quite a while after feeding. It's most terrible in the evenings. He'd scream and cry all of a sudden, and Bill and I have to take turns carrying him and patting on his back. It goes on for about 2 hours. By then, the three of us are all exhausted.

......... this one has to be an incomplete post again 'cause the little monster up.

OMG girlfriend, don't even sweat it! You are NOT supposed to be doing any "housewifery" thing till he is at least walking. Actually, once he becomes mobile, you are probably going to have less time since you need to watch where he's going and what he's doing etc. Really. I am amazed that you are able to produce the amount (AND quality) of the posts you have done so far. Kudos to you. But really, don't stress. None of us are able to do anything else when the baby was that young. Except Heidi Klum.

Thanks, girls!

Jane, just read your latest post, and yes... some things are just way more important than house work.
