Trip #1: Dong Shan River Water Park in Yilan County

Kai's first experience in a car seat.
Oh~~ Ignorance is bliss!


One hour later......

Look at that face! Bill and I felt like the worst parents ever

Then Mommy pulled out his favorite toy

and all was better

We got to our destination and...

Kai had to wait for his ride


Here it was!

The Daddy Express

It was really warm and Kai was sweating a lot

So Daddy shared a bottle of icy cold water with him

Dong Shan River is quite pretty

and that day Kai discovered that he could get on all fours and hop like a bunny

Trip #2: Fu-Long Beach and the Northeast Coast

Kai remembered this "torture device", but he handled it (relatively) calmly this time around

Daddy: "Are you ready to meet the ocean?"
Kai: "Ocean? Who's that?"

Oh... little one... you'll find out soon enough

Here they went!

Some surfer dudes came over to say hi. They loved Kai's shirt!

Then Daddy took Kai to stand in deeper water
The wave was quite strong, and Kai didn't like it

Back at camp, Kai found something interesting

He watched Daddy drink some, and he thought he could have some too
(like the water he had at Dong Shan River)

But all he had was some water from his own cup this time

And Daddy took the icy cold drink away

(Daddy didn't know it yet, but he ended up getting burnt quite badly)

The ocean breeze and the sound of waves made it the best place for a nap

After the nap, they went to say hello to the ocean one more time

And that concluded Kai's first experience as a beach bum

Then we headed for a drive along the Northeast Coast

Daddy wanted to check out the "peculiar rock formations"
They are peculiar alright

Last stop before we headed back to Taipei: the Keelung Harbor
It was once the largest harbor in east Asia

These two share so many secret laughs. I wonder what they talk about...
