Bill has told Nancy how Kai would replace the words in the songs he learns from school, but Nancy had never witnessed how Kai does it.... until today!
Today at group time, they were singing Little Cabin in the Woods. The first part of the song goes like this,
"In a cabin in the woods
A little old man by the window stood
Saw a rabbit hopping by
Knocking at his door"
So they were singing the song and replacing rabbit with other animals. Just when they were about to start the next sing, Kai suddenly started singing,
"In a cabin in the woods,
A little old man by the window stood
Saw a car vrooming by
Honking at his door"
Nancy gave Kai a kiss on the cheek, "Kai is so smart. This is like high school or college test stuff, like the LSAT, you know? Hopping is to a rabbit equals... well, according to Kai, grooming is to a car." Her eyes and mouth were wide open, "Speaking of superb language and logical thinking skills... He amazes us every day."
While we were in the parking lot, Kai started negotiating with me because he wanted to watch something when we got home. I told him I wasn't sure if that's a good idea. Then my colleague came to say hi. The first thing Kai said to her was, "I think I no want to go home with mommy."
"I think"? Our two and a half year old has opinions now?! Superb language and logical thinking skills, eh? Ay!
