6:55 am
Kai woke me up and demanded to go downstairs. "I have to get my cars, mommy. Jordy's coming!" I wondered if he had been excited all night.
9:45 am
All Kai's play dates arrived at the same time from different doors. Scott, being Scott, surprised me from coming in from the back door. This was a perfect day for play dates. It was rainy and stormy out. "We'd otherwise be cooped up in the house and driving each other crazy."
2 girls and 2 boys played hard the entire morning and turned my house upside down. Kai could not get enough of Jordy. He so wanted to be one of the big kids! "Where's Kai's room?" the two big kids asked. Once they saw the Lightning McQueen tent in Kai's room, they (including Kai) didn't want to play in the living room anymore. Kai (2.5 years old) played in the tent with Mika (6.5 years old) and Jordy (4 years old) for the rest of the morning, leaving Lily (age 2) downstairs with the mommies.
After his friends left, Kai couldn't stop talking about "Kaikai, Mika, and Jordy played in the tent". He was so happy and proud.
We had a great day today, so I told him he could watch a movie after the nap. Among all the choices we have, he insisted on watching the first Cars, which he has lost interest in the last while. "Are you sure?" I didn't want to have to deal with him changing his mind half way through the movie. "Yes, mommy. I'm sure."
We watched the movie together. Kai, as usual, was excited about Lightning McQueen. "I ruv cars, mommy."
"You certainly do." I smiled.
(brief silence)
"I like robots and I like fishies, but I RUV cars."
1/3 way into the movie, he put his hand on my hand and said, "Lightning McQueen is going to California. Just like daddy!!!"
THAT's why he insisted on watching Cars.
