Kai Loves Wei

"Weiwei, I have to go to school now. And after school, I want to go to Oakridge. Mommy, I want to go to Oakridge with daddy."
"Well, if daddy has time, you can go to Oakridge with him."
"Yay! Weiwei, we're going to Oakridge!"

Kai adores his baby sister. He's always happy to see her. He wants to touch her little fingers and toes, caress her hair, kiss her pudgy cheeks, and now that she's cooing, Kai talks to her as if she's able to talk back.

"Weiwei, I'm eating a banana. You want a banana?" He watched her coo and wiggle her arms and legs. Then he said, "Mommy, Weiwei said (s)he want your milk."

He laughs when Wei poops or burps. He snuggle her when I'm holding her. He sings to her when she's crying in the car. He watches out for her when sometimes their parents are both busy.

"Mommy, Weiwei's hungry." he said to me in all seriousness when I was doing the dishes this morning. Then he went back to the living room where Wei was, and I heard him telling her about the objects dangling in front of her, "And this is a snail. This is a butterfly. And this is a turtle. Is this a turtle? Nah~~~ That's silly! It's A radybug."

When we were at the aquarium last weekend, Kai was drumming on a sign board with a boy and a girl. A baby girl crawled to where they were checking things out, and her big sister immediately told the boys, "That's my baby sister." Kai looked at the girl, pointed at us and said loudly and proudly, "And that's MY baby sister..." and an after thought, "and mommy!!"
